Congressman Bergman Receives 2018 Great Lakes Legislator of the Year Award

Congressman Jack Bergman was honored in Traverse City Tuesday for his work to help protect the Great Lakes.

The Great Lakes Maritime Task Force presented Bergman with the 2018 Great Lakes Legislator of the Year award.

The award goes to a legislator each year who has helped to advance commerce on the Great Lakes.

Bergman is also credited with getting President Donald Trump’s support for improving the Soo Locks.

He says he knows how important the Great Lakes are to not just the state of Michigan, but to the entire country.

“The Great Lakes are the life blood of the past, but also the life blood going forward, whether it comes to the quality of our water, but also the shipping the commerce all the things that go into making the Great Lake an integral part of our country’s success,” said Bergman.

Bergman is now among 10 Michigan legislators to receive this award.
